A 3-day course for priests, religious and interested lay people
to deepen understanding of being Church in Africa in the spirit of Vatican II
Dr Magesa will be offering a thorough reflection on the post-Vatican II African Catholic Church. In particular he will be looking at dialogue between Christianity and African religions, the social role of the Church, challenging models of governance, conflict, justice and reconciliation, and issues about human sexuality.
Delivered in 5 cities around South Africa, the dates of the 3-day course will be:

Rev Dr Laurenti Magesa is a priest of the Diocese of Musoma, Tanzania. He currently teaches at Hekima, the Jesuit Theologate in Nairobi, a constituent college of the Catholic University of East Africa. He has a Ph.D. in Moral Theology from the University of Ottawa (Canada) and a D.Th. from St. Paul University (Canada). He has taught at CUEA (Kenya), at the Maryknoll School of Theology (New York, USA) and at Xavier University (Cincinnati, USA). He has worked as a priest in rural Tanzania, in Canada and in the USA.
He has authored the following books as well as many articles on African theology, moral theology, and social ethics.
